I'm not necessarily wanting to upgrade, I'm just curious, what do you guys think the best gaming mouse is at the moment? I have a G502, which I see a lot of people saying is the best, but I'm curious to see what input you guys have

The answer to your question is 80% subjective and 20% objective.

First you must go "hands on" and see if you like the product. Then read reviews, forums, manufacturer's FAQ's etc. to learn more about the product and existing issues and problems.

If you like the product and the reviews show it to be of sound quality and workmanship then that is the product to choose.

But I also recommend visiting the manufacturer's website to look at the User Guide/Manual, the FAQ's, and the forums.

Then you know.

I just bought the G502 two days ago and I'm getting used to it. I came from a RAT 7. A lot of things need to come into play. I'm not even sure if I'll keep the G502 in the long run. It's very, very good.....but I am missing the sheer weight of the RAT 7 fully loaded up on weights. Peripherals are so very subjective like Ralston18 said. I personally prefer a heavy, weighted mouse. I like that tactile sense of really moving some mass around in my hand. If the mouse is too light, it just feels wrong, like there's nothing there. I'm even looking at the Mionix Naos 7000(optical) and Naos 8200(laser) as they really seem like they'd be really comfortable. Then you have optical and laser camps. I'm sort of in the middle on the battle. The style grip you seem to use naturally is important too. After using the RAT 7 for years, I'm having to get used to the thinner, longer G502, which physically reminds me more like my first gaming mouse, the original Razer Diamondback/Copperhead.

The G502 is a great mouse, no question. It gets great reviews and is very popular. I believe I will have no problem in growing into it, but like a lot of things in computers, we guys like our toys. The idea of getting another device to try out is there. Always hoping for the perfect mouse that meets every need, but it never comes. It comes down to what really are your top needs. I needed a better sensor and while I loved the RAT 7 for some really nice lower level needs, the sensor-the engine if you will, was not up to snuff. The Logitech is just far more precisely accurate.
