Hi,
so I upgraded ram because my previous ram was broken,
System
CPUIntel Xeon E5 1620 @ 3.60GHz Sandy Bridge-EP/EX 32nm Technology
MotherboardDell Inc. 08HPGT (Chipset Model: Sandy Bridge-E) (Southbridge Model: X79)
RAM4x2GB ECC EDIMM, 1333MHz, 8GB (DDR3) (9-9-9-24)
GPUGeForce GTX 980 4gb Windforce OC
Casedell precision t3600
Storage465GB ATA Samsung SSD 850 SCSI + 1863GB ATA ST2000DM001-1CH1 SCSI
PSUdell precision t3600/635w (Dell Dual PSU Design)
Display(s)DELL U2412M
CoolingDell precision T3600 Default Fans
SoundRealtek High Definition Audio
Operating SystemWindows 10 Pro 64Bit
I upgraded to a g.skill trident 2x8gb kit 1600mhz speed.
The problem is that I get way lower specs than the ones paid for. Actually, I get less than 2.5 gb while I have to have 16gb.
Also, the speed is at 1333mhz while it had to be 1600mhz which is available in my pc according to specs sheet.
Also the clocks are at cas9 while the specs should be cas7.
anyway, not many options in the bios but I would like to somehow fix it since I paid so much money for it to be giving me 2.5gb 1333mhz ram instead of 16gb 16mhz.

UPDATE: for some reason in msconfig it was set to 2000mb by itself, so I changed it back and fixed it, but the latency and mhz are still lower than expected.

PS: I cannot change ram settings in bios, they are not there as many people suggest me. No profiles or anything, it is a very simple bios.

No, it has no such settings.
It is plain and simple bios. Only ram info, nothing else.
In dell bios that is, I also have intel bios extension which also doesnt have it, or so I think from what I searched for.

I think so if u have change the RAM then BIOS setting should be change... first of all reboot your computer then... go to the bios>> then open the primary Memory Changes the primary memory setting with the new RAM

otherwise You Reboot your Computer Automatically set the new Ram Settings

Legenda in Aeternum
You have a Dell mobo, which basically has a locked BIOS, it will only run the DRAM as close as the BIOS can figure to the DRAM's SPD data - might check for a BIOS update (don't hold your breath, but it might get something a little better. Dell doesn't put much time in on their BIOSs, especially when it comes to DRAM compatibility, and the Tridents are high. performance sticks. Sorry :(

Yes, plus I dont know if they support xmp, because my guess is that it is xmp mode only, 1600mhz, which I guess 1333mhz is not that bad for games either , is it?

And yeah, I have the latest version, dell needs to focus more in their OEM bios and add some additional options for advanced users because it is very frustrating and non-supportive for their clients to work for better upgrades or configurations that might cause in some cases trouble.

It would cost me 600+ to buy a rig of the same quality, maybe more or less, I dont know.
Of course considering the latest hardware for gaming, to support my already high end components without bottlenecks of any kind.
i7=xeon, which in my case its a high cache one, should I change only motherboard and get one with the same socket to do the job? I have psu that was made by dell as well, no idea but if I would do something at the very least I should know what I am aiming for, what components.
Is it new psu, if so what kind of psu. If so which case? the one I already have? should a new motherboard alone do? If so, which one would be best to consider as an upgrade and not be a downgrade? Considering I will do gaming in it. Current Chipsets are I think sandybridge-e/x79 or something.
So Probably one that is better than that if I am to spend money for a component i expect it to be better than the previous one.

Considering the ones that are shipped to European marketplaces.

ps: will it be THAT bad if I decide to not upgrade or change my pc in some way?
