Hey there. I bought a new mobo just to realise, there is no digital audio input on it. So i cant use the 7.1 dolby digital surround box that creates virtual 7 channels surround. Well, i have plugged it in using the aux converter thing that came with the headset so i can use it. I was thinking of fixing this [CENSORED]

Now it says 5.1 in the title of the soundcard, and it is on sale right now.
Will my 7.1 tritton 720+ work on this 5.1. I think they put 5.1 because they only support 5.1 through aux (REAL surround) is this true?

The Asus xonar d-kara 5.1 is meant for the Karaoke audience and in essence isn't what you're looking for in order to take advantage of the optical output off a sound card even though the manual states you can connect it to a receiver and it allows for optical audio pass thorough to a decoder. You will want to look into an HT|Omega Fenix though to be honest the headsets aren't advertised to contain more than one drivers per ear cup thus you're looking at audio mixing and amplification taking place on the audio mixamp that comes bundled with the headset so no matter what you drop on that amp you're still left to perceive sound on a right and left aka stereo sound stage.

My 2 cents though
