Minecraft low FPS on a good PC

Hello!

Im getting only around 40 fps on max settings in Minecraft. In other games, like The Witcher 3, Im getting 60+ fps on ULTRA settings. I really don`t how I can fix it. I even allocated 8 GB of RAM to Minecraft, and it didn't change anything. I also set power usage to HIGH PERFORMANCE because I heard that this can be the issue, but it is not.

My PC specs are:
- GTX 980
-I7 4790K
-16 GB RAM

What do you mean you allocated 8GB of your RAM to Minecraft? I have never heard of having to allocate RAM to a game before. Typically a game would just use as much as it needs as long as you have it available.

I'm not saying it's typical for a game to need more than 8GB of RAM but if you have 16GB in your PC why would you cut half of it off?

Minecraft is different, you have to tell it how much it can use and generally half of what you have in your pc is what you should to allocate.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have been gaming for about 20 years now and it seems like I am one of the few people who has never played Minecraft. I had no idea that was something to worry about for Minecraft because it's not even usually an option in other games.

Actually try to decrease the allocated memory, I found that if you give it too much its gonna lag :S Im not sure why but java WILL use more than you give it anyway so give it around 4-5GB and see how it reacts :) Hope this helps.
