Hello :)

So I have been looking at the Samsung 950 pro SSD and I really want it.
But I know that the z97 motherboards is not capable of getting the read and write speed over 800 Mb/s when the samsung 950 is placed in the M.2 slot.

So after some researching on the net I have found this one:
Lycom-DT 120

My question is:
Will that adapter work with the Samsung 950 pro, and if so will it work with my motherboard and setup?

My setup:
MSI Z97-Gaming 7
Intel Core i5-4670K
32 GB Ram 1600Mhz.
CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W

Yes it will work, I have a similar setup and am going crazy why I am getting 1/3 the speed I should have as the Z97 doesnt have enough lanes. The pcie 3.0 x4 adapters work bu then start cutting lanes for other things. Like I just put in a MSI 1070 gaming Z GPU and I dont want to slow it down. tho some have said its very very minimal. guess I might try it, still doing more research

If your Z97 motherboard has a third PCIe x16 slot it's likely electrically a x4 slot that goes to the chipset instead of the CPU. Using that will not affect the GPU.

Also, there's no performance difference between x16 and x8 with PCIe 3.0 when it comes to consumer-grade GPUs.
