Hello, I have checked previous posts that had the exact same problem as me, but I couldn't figure out how to fix my problem..

I built my PC around 2 years ago now, and the past few months I think it started making louder noise when running and I suddenly get FPS drops when playing games. I didn't have these FPS drops before unless I was streaming to twitch, which I don't do anymore.

FPS drops are like once every few minutes when playing a game, like when I play it at 180fps (which is good enough for me for a shootergame) it suddenly drops to around 40 FPS for 5 seconds then goes back to normal.

Here are my specs, If anythis is missing I can certainly provide you with more:

I hope someone knows why I get FPS drops and can help me out here, I certainly hope my PC ain't broken :p

The loud noise usually from the PSU's fan spinning in incorrect manner. Maybe some loose screws or dust buildup.

Try to hear closely as you turn it on to pinpoint which fan actually is. Each fan.

Apply some machine oil lubricant by reasonable amount on the troubled fan, that should silence it. However if it's PSU's, I don't recommend to even pop it open as it's way too dangerous. As long as it works, live with it. Or get new PSU.

unfortunately this is not the case, I checked my temperatures and they all seem fine.. I just might have found one of the things that made some noise in my PC, there happened to be still a CD in the CD drive, i took it out now it's more quiet. I changed all my settings to lowest and anti-aliasing off etc I have higher FPS, but the drops still occur only now they drop to 60 fps not to 30.. better but still a problem

EDIT: The noises have been occuring for a longer time, before I got FPS drops I think.. I opened my PC few times already trying to find the source but couldn't find much xD and it's not dusty either

60 fps is perfect unless you are using a monitor with refresh rate of 120hz or higher, and your specs say your monitor has refresh rate of 60hz so even if you have a fps counter of 180, you wouldnt see any difference past 60 fps.

Sorry to break it to you but I do see and feel a difference when playing a shooter game and my FPs drops to 60 it doesnt go as smooth, its still better than 30fps as i said which was nearly impossible to aim..

Fact is I need to fix it, doesnt matter if its playable or not :s

I'm less bothered by the noise honestly.

My friend gave me his settings for the game we play and it started off with my shaders and textures etc on high and very high settings, I was surprised because my FPS was only 120 but thats fine, and it still dropped, but this time it dropped to 80fps.. Higher settings and more FPS where is the logic.. Anyways this is a bad solution because it still does the FPS drops.. I must know the cause
