Hi all,

I have upgraded the memory on my system today and have since had problems.

The issue is since adding the new memory the system boots no problem, can access bios and POST but a few seconds after the OS(Windows 7) starts to load(so black screen with spinning logo) the system turns off, then restarts, then loops that process.
i have tried to re-install windows, but again, boots ok, boots off CD but the as soon as the installer gets graphical same sympton as above.

its obvious the RAM upgrade has done this, clearly. But i was unde the impression this combination of hardware would ok.

Can you see any issue with this?

Intel Board -

Intel CPU

Corsair RAM - 16GB
2 x 8GB sticks of DDR3 1333Mhz
http://www.ebuyer.com/389194-corsair-16gb-ddr3-1333mhz-xms3-memory-kit-cmx16gx3m2a1333c9

i am guessing the memory is not compatible with the CPU, there is mention of the memory being compatible with the 2nd and 3rd gen dual platforms. But thought i had that...

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the replies, where does it specify the board does not take 8GB sticks?
Max 2 channels
Max 4 Dimms
Max 16 GB

That doesn't read that i cannot add 2 x 8GB sticks as i am using 2 channels, 2 Dimms and max of 16GB. Its DDR3 and 1333Mhz as the spec says the board will accept.

Thanks your help!

i understand your logic but the amount of DIMMS dont always divide by the max ram the board takes. This has never been the case for me.

i took your advice and got some 4GB sticks, same RAM type etc, same issue.

Thanks
