Hello,
I have the following items and want to find out if my plan for mapping them is ok:
1 ... Modem in bridge mode from cable ISP
2 ... Asus Router
3 ... TP-Link gigabit switch
4 ... Cisco VOIP box from my digital phone co
Plan was going to be as follows:
Cable coaxial (into) the Modem (into) the Asus router. I'm pretty confident about this part, and it is the next section where my questions kick in.
My Asus router has 4 outbound ports on the back. Of the four ports on the back of the router, port #1 and port #2 are pretty straight forward and simply plug directly into a computer each. Port #3 and port #4 are where I want to confirm my set up.
Port #3 goes into my Cisco VOIP box.
Port #4 goes into the TP-Link gigabit switch, which then provides internet for two additional computers.
Perhaps this is aok, but I wasn't sure if I'm splitting things too often or if the Cisco box is located in the right spot.
Any advice appreciated and ty in advance.
Phil
