Hello,

I put together a new PC about two weeks ago. It had worked perfectly without any issues or signs of any problems. Last night I shut down my PC like normal. Tonight when I came home from work I went to power on and nothing happened. No light, not even the slightest budging of fans.

I checked the internal cables to make sure everything is plugged in and it looked fine. My power strip is receiving power from the wall outlet.. I have no idea what the problem could be.

These are all new parts and didn't show the slightest hint of issues leading up to now. Please can anybody diagnose this problem?

Thank you,

Unfortunately this is what is known as infant mortality in the electronics field. A small percentage of electronics fail within the first few hours/weeks. And just like a light bulb they usually fail when power is turned on. Most likely it was your power supply or the motherboard that crapped out.

If you have another power supply handy I would give that a shot. If not, then you can at least remove the power supply and test it on its own. Here is a link on how to turn on an ATX power supply outside of the computer. If you have a multi meter handy you can test the voltages. If not, you'd at least be able to see if the power supply turns on by observing if the fan spins or not.

DO NOT attempt this unless you feel...

DO NOT attempt this unless you feel comfortable working with electronics/electricity!
