Okay, i've had a hell of a few days.... i'll do what i can to go through what I've done...

Everything was fine, i was playing games and having no issues, i decided to change out my motherboard/CPU from an FM2 socket to an AM3, (went from AMD 10 5800k to AMD FX 8370), when i booted back up i received several BSOD's referring to kernel trap mode, i followed some tutorials and nothing worked, i ended up reinstalling Windows itself (previously had win10, went down to win 7).

Once i booted up i experienced a bunch of other random BSOD's, though none created minidumps for me to view... FINALLY i am to a point where i can get minidumps from windows, i have the latest one and i will try and display it in a way that works.

I will also list some symptoms....

Cannot update to win10 (error code 80240031 (others as well, changes randomly)

Had several failed updates, though i pushed through them all by restarting and making them install individually.

Chrome constantly crashes itself with no error (just closes with no warning), when i restart it it just says it crashed, but has no crash file.

My sound will stop working randomly, can't transmit, can't hear anything from speakers or USB headset. (tried to test speakers, told me it could not play the test).

Cannot install Logitech Webcam software (C920 webcam)

Shockwave Flash plugin stops randomly in Chrome

Most of the issues are seemingly random. I will be doing nothing, hands not on keyboard or mouse, and chrome will close with no error/issue.

The Crashdump is long (from my point of view =P) so warning for that, but its in a spoiler, the top two show up as red in bluescreenview. Hopefully i can post links as its to much for a spoiler, to big :(

I also did a chkdsk before i reinstalled windows, and it found some errors, said they were fixed, and started up no problem.

I am completely at a loss, hopefully someone can help. I just don't understand how a complete wipe didn't fix it :( i booted from DvD, deleted the partition and created an entirely new one, and still having all of these issues, thank you in advance, and i will fill in any other information needed!

system specs!

EDIT i will also say, i have done a memtest, came back totally fine!

EDIT 2 : Did another memtest with the windows memory diagnostic, it came back with errors. Researched RAM compatibility with my mother board and it seems that it is not compatible according to ASRock's website..... I'm not sure if its the issue though, as it doesn't ping an issue on PCpartpicker. so i'd love to get some clarification on if thats true, as the Ram is older, and i would have to buy new stuff, just need to make sure. And if so, what ram should i upgrade to?

Those crashes are from 2009 to now. Only 4-5 are from this year, and theyre from last month

I see the BIOS in the post above says 1.20. However the BIOS on the Asrock site only goes to 1.00

Did you flash the BIOS? If you did, I think you flashed the wrong BIOS update

The Asrock Fatal1ty 970 Performance goes to 1.20, the Asrock Fatal1ty 970 Performance/3.1 does not.

That only goes up to 1.00

So, if you've got the 3.1, you need to reflash it so BIOS 1.00 is on it

When you change the motherboard, you must format your hard drive and then reinstall windows from scratch, no upgrading and downgrading since these days many assume its the same thing. The ram may be incompatible, but with no formatting of the hard drive these two areas will complicate issues making it harder to solve the issue.

Incredibly strange about the crashes showing from 2009 to now, as i haven't had any of these components that long, the oldest is around 2013, and that crash only populated recently, had nothing in the file before that, and its a fresh version of windows, very confusing, though i don't know much about them!

I didn't do any flashing of the BIOS, I actually haven't touched it, it was that way out of the box. Could it be possible i got the 970 Performance even though my box says performance/3.1? Thats the only thing i can think of...

I did some messing around, went to bios and checked the ram, it was set to run at DDR3 2400 MHz, set that to Auto, started back up, haven't had a crash yet or a BSOD, though its only been up for an hour or two... I was also able to update to windows 10 with no issue, so i'm hopeful it fixed the issue, though i'm not sure why any of these settings were changed, as i haven't done any of them. I will post back after some testing and checking on the motherboard (i know 100% that my box says performance/3.1 lol)

Double checked the BIOS when i woke up, seems my motherboard is the Performance, despite my box saying Performance 3.1. Not sure the differences are significant enough for me to exchange or anything, especially after getting this working, but it is running version 1.20. Still haven't had any issues, stressing it today to see what happens! will post back!
