socket 1151 safe cpu cooler weight

Hi everyone,
According to some reports which state that 1151 cpus are thinner than 1150s and prone to bend easily, I have two questions. First can I use my old coolermaster hyper tx3 for my core i5 6600 ? Second how much should a cpu cooler weigh so that the cpu can bear it.( the safe cpu cooler weight for skylake.)

There's no 'safe' cpu cooler weight listed in any specs anyplace that I know of. The same coolers that have worked well for previous cpu's should work well for skylake also. The same rules apply that have existed in regards to being careful of transporting systems with larger air coolers installed. 1151 cpu's are a bit thinner but the report circulating everywhere seemed to stem from a review where people used a power driver to install their cooler rather than the more appropriate hand tightening method.

There are almost 100 builds on pcpartpicker alone people have listed using larger air cooler than the 212 evo (larger than the tx3) made up of only the i5 6600k and i7 6700k skylake cpu's. When googling for bent skylake cpu's, the same...

One place ran the story and every other tech site copied and pasted it.

In all fairness I've seen how some users handle cpus, everything from dropping them on the floor, putting them in vises, hammering on them, prying on them with screwdrivers, using power tools etc. It's a wonder there aren't more issues than what there are. The cpu isn't the only thing that bears the weight of a cooler, larger air coolers typically use a solid metal backplate along with a mounting system that not only holds the cooler tight to the cpu for good thermal contact but the motherboard out away from the socket all sides bears the weight.

All that aside the tx3 is a relative smaller cooler, fairly light weight and should be compatible. If the cpu is a 6500 non k (no overclocking) it should do just fine. Just make sure to clean the cooler off with isopropyl alcohol and use a fresh dab of thermal paste.
