Is checking the memory type like DDR3 or DDR4 the only thing to think of when finding RAM compatibility? I'm thinking of using the Mushkin Enhanced Redline 994206F memory with the GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-Gaming G1 motherboard.

Yeah the DDR must match, and preferably the Mhz must match. 1800Mhz with 1800Mhz.

The Mhz don't have to match. But if they don't, for example, 1300Mhz with an 1800Mhz, they will both run at 1300.

It looks like your Motherboard only supports DDR4, so take care to not get DDR3 for it.

Doesn't this motherboard support more than 1800Mhz? Or am I wrong?
