Hi guys,

I've just plugged in my XL2411Z 24" 1080p 144Hz monitor for the first time, and am very unhappy with the colour/ picture quality.

I've just switched from a Samsung 24" 60Hz TV, and it is night and day.

What is the best monitor on the market for picture quality in your opinion? It needs to be the following:

1080p, 120Hz+, 24 inch
<£280/ $300
Height Adjustable

Solution
Have you spent time calibrating the monitor and have you applied custom ICC profiles before that? If you haven't, then you haven't really tried out the BenQ XL2411Z monitor yet. As far as that goes, you won't see much better image quality in a different TN monitor.

Agreed with RCFProd. The BenQ is a very popular monitor. Look for someone who has made a proper ICC color profile. If the BenQ monitor is matte, and your looking for something that looks more like your television you may want to look for a monitor with a glossy finish. The glossy finish can really enhance contrast. Personally I don't care for it, but some people like it.

I have calibrated the monitors settings to many suggestions made by professionals online and it looks far better now. However, my PC isn't installing the ICC profiles. It lets me extract them, I click install and nothing happens...

My PC is Windows 10 and is connected to the monitor via DVI-I Dual Link

I've tried a number of games out, and the picture quality is Better* than my old monitor now and as far as my eyes will tell, have faultless picture quality, is there truly no point in trying another monitor out?

My old Samsung monitor was in fact technically, an LCD 24" 60Hz TV With* the glossy finish

My new monitor is also 24" LCD with the matte finish

I cant tell a difference between the two finishes in terms of impacting picture quality
