I really need some help here. My old PC laptop is getting pretty slow and I need a RAM upgrade for it as all I have is 4GB. So I tried googling how to figure out what clock speed I need because I can't find out what my motherboard limit on this is whether it's 1333 1600 or 1866 of DDR3. Whenever I look at the specs it tells me everything BUT the speed of the ram. I'm thinking about getting 1333 MHz to play it safe but I want to know what the limit is so I know if I can go higher or not. Any knowledge about this helps.

And under what conditions can we entice you to divulge the secret of the make and model of this venerable portable computing device? Providing accurate information is so much easier if we all know what we're talking about rather than lobbing thought projectiles at random generalities such as the following:

"Usually you should only upgrade RAM (memory) in kits that are compatible. Over time even near-similar memory sticks may change and render them incompatible with older memory sticks.

The best way to find compatible memory is to go to the site of a memory vendor - Kingston, Crucial, G.Skill, etc...) and enter your device details there. They will then offer compatible kits and you will have assurance that if it does not work, you can return it under the warranty of the manufacturer. Some of them even lets you run a little program that will inspect your device and offer compatible products.
