I have an Intel DQ57TM (with Intel i5 650) desktop computer running Windows 7 64-bit (Hard disk mode in BIOS = IDE)

I had 2GB of ram in my computer (2x1GB) and decided to remove it and upgrade it with 2x Patriot 4GB PC3-12800 CL-11 1600MHz (PSD34G160081), after upgrading the ram with only 2x 4GB that was bought new, The computer boots normally until I get to the Starting Windows page, before the logo shows up the graphics distort a little and the computer restarts automatically. The same thing happens in safe mode. I can not even boot into a Windows 7 DVD or USB. I have tried every combination of ram slots but nothing works, I put the 2x 1GB back in and it boots perfectly and works fine, I verified that I was getting the right memory before buying by checking Crucial.com which clearly indicates this ram should be supported... http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Intel/dq57tm

Thanks for the help

Hi, I looked around and saw that my DDR3 ram at 1666 mhz would be fine and would just run at 1333mhz (I went into the bios and the 8GB DDR3 is detected and the speed in the bios says 1333mhz. I didnt buy a kit, but I bought 2 of the exact same memory in the same boxes, just individual. The brand name of the ram is Patriot.

I went into the bios and I cant find anywhere to put the proper timings, All I saw in the bios about the ram was that it detected 8GB of DDR3 memory running at 1333mhz and I had an option to change the voltage (which is set to 1.5v) so I didnt change the voltage as it is correct. I tried just for the hell of it to upgrade my bios to the latest version which completed successfully, but the same problem occurs :(

Can you assist me in finding a way to change the timings? On the memory it says CL11

Thanks for your help.

I looked EVERYWHERE in the BIOS to change the timing of the ram, but I cant find anything about it, I legit checked every option in the bios, am i crazy or is it somehow hidden... I couldnt find DRAM timing or anything similar anywhere.. My bios is the latest version.

Okay I really hope they will return it, but if I return them and buy a dual channel kit of the same specs as these that didnt work (2x 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ - CL11 - PC3-12800) will it work? if not then do I need to look for?

I will just get 1333mhz. as Intel board are usually strict on what it like.

So you think that the only reason it didnt work is because it is 1600mhz even though in the bios it says it was running at 1333mhz? I should be fine if I get a kit of 2x 4GB PC3-12800 - CL-11 - 1333MHz memory or should I match it to the ram I have now (Kingston, 1GB, PC3-10600, 1333mhz, 9-9-9-24)
