Hi,

I want to build a decent gaming rig on a £500 budget. I already know that i want to use a micro ATX board and corsair air 240. But I'm stuck when it comes down to a graphics card, processor, psu and cooling.

I just want a decent graphics card, possibly along the lines of a Nvidia geforce 960 series.

It'll be solely for gaming, so no need for a processor that will never be used to its full potential.

any help would be great,

Thanks

Solution
Struggled a little because of the £75 case - you won't do an i5 with a £500 budget with a 960 & that case.

CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor (£94.98 @ Ebuyer)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150M-D2V DDR3 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£47.99 @ Ebuyer)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£29.99 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£37.98 @ Novatech)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card (£163.98 @ Ebuyer)
Case: Corsair Air 240 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (£74.99 @ Novatech)...
A GTX 960 or R9 380 are good choices on that budget along with an i3 6xxx series or FX 63XX series. A good brand 550W power supply will be fine (500W if you get the gtx 960) as for cooling it depends if and how much you want to overclock, that case comes with 3 fans so its only a CPU cooler to buy or use the stock one.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was considering an intel processor, but my only worry is whether to invest in an i5 quad processor. Will it improve gameplay? I highly doubt i'll be overclocking as i'm not familiar with how to do it, so i'm perfectly alright with the stock cooler.

With the i5 & 380 you're on an older socket but its a more powerful gaming system both cpu & gpu wise absolutely mate.

That v21 is an excellent case ,as good as the air 240 IMO easily & a lot cheaper.

It does not come with an exhaust fan

If you can squeeze another £8 for a fan I would recommend you do.

go with the board from this list instead mate, its better quality & has front usb 3 headers ,theother one doesnt.
I had a play around, better board, better case (if you like white) the ds cube is a sterling case & no extra fans needed at the cost of dropping psu qualty a bit.
