which video card would you guys use

friend needs to know which card would be better for his system a 960 or 970.
350 is his limit
Amd Fx 8150 3.6 ghz Water cooled
16 gigs drr3 ram
asus m5a97
560 ti evga ( using right now )
850 + 80 thermaltake
Full size case

Well, the processor is not great.
A 970 would still be better, but he needs a new processor as well.

Depending on your friends needs, the 970 is a considerable jump in performance. You can run most games at maxed setting in 1080p 60fps with a 970. If he's looking to play in 1440p or higher I would absolutely recommend the 970.

970 hits a pretty sweet spot, right now. Plus, it's the minimum requirement for VR, if he wants to try that out down the road. You didn't mention what resolution he's gaming at, which is normally a fairly important detail. Regardless, if possible I'd just wait for Pascal or Polaris, coming later this year. Should be quite a bit more bang for your buck, plus far better power efficiency.

thank you all he just ordered a 970 as I told him I trust people here as I have been coming here since the early 2000s learning things I do not know then taking what I have learned or been told and cross referencing info to get what I need.

I always tell people to come here and ASK questions.,
