Ok so I have been trying to fix this issue over several days with no luck and I'm getting fed up. Please Help!

I have a new D-Link DWA 171 USB Wireless Adapter that works fine in other computers but the speed is extremely slow and erratic on my Dell Precision T3500 Workstation, which is where i need it. I have tried plugging it into all of the 9 integrated USB ports, including the internal one on the motherboard with no effect. I've also tried disabling various hubs through the bios with the same results.

The ports appear to be providing sufficient current to the adapter at 500mA based on the information I've gathered through the device manager.

However when I check the USB bandwidth usage in the device manager it says 1% and 20% is system reserved but I don't understand exactly what this implies or if it's even relevant.

Also, I recall my previous USB wireless adapter behaving similarly and I just thought it was on the fritz so I replaced it with this one.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

Oh yea, sorry I forgot to mention, I've tried doing it several ways.

I manually installed the correct (win7 64bit) driver from the disk that came with the adapter.

I also tried using the normal setup process and followed the instructions to a tea (including popping in the adapter only when prompted by the setup).

The thing is, every setup method has worked flawlessly but for some reason on this computer, it doesn't function properly, whereas on 2 other computers it works fine.

I also updated my motherboard drivers and bios as well.

I will try downloading it from the site though just for the sake of it. Thanks for the advice.
