I currently have a R9 290x tri-x and 3 1080 monitors. I made a impulse buy today and ordered another R9 290x tri-x to CF hoping to get a decent bump to keep me above 60 FPS on average.
I am now wondering if it would make more sense to sell my 290x and order a Fury X. It seems like the benchmarks on triple monitors is limited compared to 1080 and 4K.
Any advice will be appreciated!

Keep the 2 290x unless you really just don't want to do deal with crossfire support issues or whatever, they're a little faster than one 980 ti and furyx and I can run 1080P triple with one TI above 60 fps but I run at 1440P 3 way mostly. Hell it might be worth it to return it and wait, within a few months, amd polaris cards might be out and performance for those should be much better than what we have now.

Or keep the 2 290x and then sell them when the new cards come. Not a great idea to be dropping a few hundred with these new cards coming out so soon though, if you have a card now.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I had though about a single 980ti because of the 6GB Vram but had no idea what type of FPS I would get on my 3 1080p monitors. I was on the fence about waiting for the new cards but with only rumors to go by I didn't know how long I would be waiting. When the 290X launched I had to wait months until the bitcoin boom faded before I could find one in stock and still paid more than the recommended price. One concern I had may be heat generated by a second card. I have had good luck with my single tri-x after I changed the fan profile. It runs at 70C under full load but with 2 I think that will change.
