Hi guys, So here's what happen, I've been gifted a laptop worth throwing away, the coolest part is it has all the features, its brand new and its 15'6". but the worst part is the CPU is only 1.4GHZ, LIKE WHAT 1.4GHz?!?!

I don't know it's an HP laptop, why would they still be making laptops with bad CPUs, so yeah just wanted to know if i bought some CPU used or new from ebay/amazon, would it fit/work? or will i need the exact type?

Please help, it'll save a laptop from being chucked into a bin xD after all its only the cpu rest is badass

1.4 GHz AMD Dual-Core E1-6015 APU with Radeon R2 Graphics

much different specs than the A6 5200 originally listed.

the E1-6015 is a SoC (System on a Chip). No, it isn't upgradable.
Likely, the cpu is soldered in and you can't change it.
But, if the laptop has a sata 2.5" hard drive, you can replace that with a ssd and it will make all the difference in the world.
You will not notice 1.4ghz.
Sometimes, you can boost the ram to 4gb inexpensively; I would do that too.

We'd want to know the model of the laptop to get an idea if it's possible to upgrade any of the components.

If it's not obviously located on the bottom of the laptop, it's probably hidden under the battery. Just remove the battery and you should see the laptop model number.

Yeah for animation that laptop is a lost cause. If you aren't under any obligation to return the laptop to your college I'd consider selling it and putting it towards a better laptop.

You'd be better off saving up and buying a laptop with at least some sort of dedicated graphics.
