SSD temperature too low?

Hi all!

I just installed a new ADATA SP550 Premier SSD with a fresh new Win 7. It's super fast and works just fine but I noticed something weird, something I've never encountered before. The temps of the drive are averaging at 18-19C and reached the absolute low of 14C at one point. During stress tests (CrystalDiskMark and Aida64 - local disks test) they climb to 38C. It's not the first SSD I worked with and I am well used to 30C area.

The ambient temp is above 20C for sure (prolly around 24C). Two case fans are idling and CPU fan is barely moving as well at 800 RPM.

The rest of the components show reasonable temps.
CPU ~30C
HDD ~ 39C (actually it's a bit high for an idle drive, but it has very minimal airflow around it, so not really surprising)
External HDD ~34C

Another point of comparison - Samsung EVO 850 and the same Seagate HDD in another rig standing right next to this one show 30C and 25C respectively,

I checked with several programs (the aforementioned Aida64, Speccy, HWMonitor).

The entire system if anyone is interested:

i5-6500, Asus B150M-A, Scythe Katana 4, Seagate 1TB Barracuda, ADATA SP550 Premier 120GB, 430W S12II.

The case is Corsair Carbide 88R with SSD mounts on the back. Maybe that's the reason for such a huge difference? Still doesn't make sense for a non idle drive to be significantly cooler than ambient when the airflow inside the case is minimal and obviously none of it reaches the back.

I am not really worried, mostly curious and wondering if it's possible the sensor is off and how can I check it. Or maybe the temps are normal for this particular drive - I dunno. Very little info available on the webs.

Thanks in advance for all the insights!

I used several programs to rule out incorrect readings.

I wonder if reinstalling the drive will fix this weirdness. Maybe a different SATA power plug? I am not worried enough to RMA it, but I do prefer my stuff to be in check. Lol...

Like I said before, it is not possible to have temperatures below ambient with conventional cooling.

Now, a reading of 19 with an ambient around in the low 20s probably isn't uncommon, just some offset error in the sensor. Although a reading of 14 like the OP mentioned does seem a little odd.

Not necessarily saying the OP has anything to worry about though. I don't think SSD temps are something that people need to be overly concerned about.

I'm starting to think there's some compatibility issue on software level. While booting from HDD (Win 10) the temps of the SSD are between 26-49C (idle to stress). Which is absolutely normal. Booted from SSD again and they are fluctuating rapidly between 16 and 25C as if there was a built in cooling mechanisms of some kind. And I know SSD's don't contain any. Also HDD sensor seems to be stuck (ish).

Anyways, for now I'll dismiss this as one of those mysteries that humanity hasn't solved yet. lol... Thanks to ya all for the input.
