Trying to upgrade from 2x2Gb 1333 to 1x8Gb 1600 RAM
Have latest bios (F3) available. I've read that 8 Gb is supported.

After removing the 2x2Gb sticks and inserting the 8Gb one, when i try to boot up the computer just gives continuous beeping. (not one long beep). And a black screen.

any help or advice would be nice thanks.

cpu core2 duo 2.33 Ghz (E6550)

Solution

Your motherboard supports up to 8 GB using two 4 GB of either DDR2 or DDR3.

Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules

Support for DDR2 1066(O.C.)/800/667 MHz memory modules
