I'm looking for a compatible graphics card replacement upgrade for a Dell Studio XPS 9100. Running Win 7 Pro 64X.

My current card is the AMD 5700 series. I definitely need two DVI or display port connections (my monitors do not have HDMI).

My biggest concern is the PSU compatibility.

Here is what I know about the PSU (which I do not want to replace):

Dell V4NC2 Studio XPS 9100 Power Supply 525W H525AF-01 D525A002L

1x 24-pin ATX Power Connector
1x 8-pin ATX Power Connector
5x SATA Power Connectors
2x 6-pin PCI Power Connectors
1x 2-pin PCI Power Connectors
1x Floppy Power Connector

Model: H525AF-01
Max power: 525W

I am really in the dark about connectors and what would work with this PSU. When I start reading info about volts on rails my brain freezes.:??:

I'm considering this:

EVGA GeForce GTX 960 02G-P4-2962-KR 2GB SC GAMING, Only 6.8 inches, Perfect for mITX Build Graphics Card

EVGA GeForce GTX 960

or this:

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 760 DirectX 12 ZT-70401-10P 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 760

Would either of these be compatible?

Thanks so much. I've done a ton of upgrades over the years, but GPUs always scare me for some reason. You've saved me a lot of grief. :bounce:

As a follow-up, I installed the GTX 960: It's a great upgrade! Power consumption is lower and the machine is cooler overall. (My old AMD card used to hit 75C regularly.)

One question: This GPU includes one fan, which only kicks in under load conditions. The documentation says:

The fans...will not turn on until they are needed to cool the card (60C-65C) If you wish to set a custom fan profile. please download EVGA PrecisionX..."

I went to the site and based on the features, it looks like this is mostly designed for overclocking the GPU, which I have no intention of ever doing.

Is there any reason I should download and install this to control the fans?

Note that I do not do any gaming at all.
