After plugging in another SSD my computer performance has become particularly slow

Hi all, I have written here before and received excellent feedback. Unfortunately with my upgrade some things went wrong and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Now I recently received a Samsung 850 240GB SSD as a gift, I had already had a Samsung 840 120GB SSD for my system and core applications but I was storing all my games and such on a 1TB HDD.

I had a few problems installing the 240GB but after a while I managed to get it working. During this time I was trying to get it working I was invited to play a game. I joined and I noticed by just plugging in another cable to my motherboard my loading time has slowed dramatically (ridiculously slow) and my frames had dropped insanely to around 13FPS. After this I continued with the installation and I finally had it working. Now I have my SSD as well as my HDD but when playing games on either drive the performance is extremely slow.

Any initial tests I could perform to help you guys out or provide any screenshots? Photos of the installation?

Solution
Is it a new or used 850? What problems did you encounter installing it? What exactly did you move over to the 850? Is the OS on it? Is that partition indexing?

Hi there and thank you for the response, this is a new 850 straight from Amazon. I was having problems installing this with using the correct power cable as I was trying to use the Molex cable(?) instead of the proper power cable which came straight from the PSU. Please forgive me as my IT knowledge is somewhat limited. I have moved only 2 games over to the new 850 which was the Division and a group of Steam games. Unfortunately even after moving them they all have poor performance similar to the problems occurring on the HDD.

During this installation I had to unplug a few cables and replug them in to finish the installation, this shouldn't have caused problems but it may have. I have also not done anything regarding partition indexing afaik I have only made the space on the SSD allocated.

Ah yes I believe I have found a fix for the error. I had an additional cable loose on one of my drives, for some reason this was causing my system to lag but I have no idea why.

Thank you for the help :)
