Hi Masters,

Overclocked my Core i7 4790K 4.00Ghz to 4.8Ghz, just wondering is it safe for long run? Temperature looks higher than usual makes sense (Will be baked? :D). I need suggestion about keep using it or should I restore to Default and avoid in future.

Specifications:

> Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz (OC 4.80GHz)
> Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 (rev. 1.0)
> Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 (GV-N980G1 GAMING-4GD)
> Kingston Hyperx 32GB (8x4) 1866 BUS DDR 3 (KHX318C10F/8)
> CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 1000W Power Supply
> CoolerMaster Nepton 280L CPU Cooler

Usually CPU temp is 16C >< 48C.... what is the PCH and System Temp ???

What I do?
Gaming/Coding/FL-Studio.

is it worthy or bad idea?

Yes, also a gpu will downclock itself and thermal throttle before any serious dammage happens.

with gpu's as long as you dont fiddle with the voltages you'll be perfectly fine

the cpu will start to throttle around 100c, but its not good to run it that hot all the time obviously.

It all depends on how much voltage you're running through it.

if its set to adaptive then you should be okay as the cpu downclocks and uses less voltage

intel says 74 degrees c and under is safe for that cpu

Sure thing, glad i could help! if you have any other questions feel free to message me.

also if you can id try and bring the voltage down if possible. 1.7v can be dangerous and may seriously reduce the lifespan of the chip

Whatever your comfortable with. You defiantly don't want to go over the tj max of your cpu ever. The cooler the better though. As long as mine stays under 50c I'm happy. I have a 5820k at 4.5ghz at 1.298 volts.
