Is it worth it to buy second hand graphics cards from Ebay? (GTX TItan or 980, etc?)

Out of curiosity I went over to Ebay to see what prices they had on graphics cards. To my surprise I saw a couple of GTX TItans on sale for the same price as a 980 and they were new and working only a few months old! I don't know why the person was selling them but they are also on sale for 700 to 800 pounds not on auction. Do you think it is safe and legit to buy such a card? I would only get one if I could pick it up for 200 to 300 pounds which would be an exceptional deal for a titan and save 1 or 200 pounds on a 980. I don't need a better gpu but with VR coming I want to upgrade one of these days or build a new PC. Do you guys think it would be worth it or should I keep my money? I am looking at the UK version by the way since I live in the UK not America. Otherwise I will save up for a 980 from Amazon. I get all my PC stuff from there anyways.

One rule when buying used stuff online. In case something goes wrong don't spend more than you're willing or able to lose... just in case.

I've sold lots of tech through Craigslist... but I take very good stuff of all my stuff and wouldn't sell it to anyone unless I knew it was still in good condition. Unfortunately, there are many people who aren't that caring.

As far as GPUs goes.. You have no idea if it was used for coin mining and stressed to the limits while with that owner. Even here on Tom's Hardware people here say it's ok for your GPU to run at 100%... so you get every bit of performance... but that just shortens the life of your graphics card. That is something you need to take into consideration when buying a used...

You may just get a great deal... then again you may not... If you have a good return policy in case of problems... then that's great.
