Hello All,
I'm a novice and not versed in Networking. I am attempting to increase the connectivity of my wireless home network.
I have a ZyXEL PK5001Z, DSL Modem/Router provided by CenturyLink.
I have a NETGEAR C6300, Cable Modem/Router
I have a NETGEAR N300, WiFi Router
I have a NETGEAR PowerLINE WiFi Kit, including 1 ea., PL1000 Adaptor & PLW1000 WiFi Access Point (PLW1000 doubles as PL1000 Adaptor w/ additional WiFi capability)
What I am attempting to do is, use the PK5001Z DSL M/R -> disable the router capability and use the NETGEAR C6300 strictly as a router (Disable Modem capability, if that is even possible). Then I was wanting to use the NETGEAR PowerLINE Adaptor (PL1000), from the C6300, and connect the NETGEAR N300 to the other PowerLINE Adaptor (PLW1000)[across the house], to extend the network.
Now, I don't know I used the correct terminology, if thats possible, or if I'm wasting my time. I just want to have both, my C6300 & N300, to emit a network signal throughout the house. I live out away from town, no cable service, and the house has hallways & obstructions that limit the signal from one end to the other.
I have searched the internet, like most, and I'm still having a hard time understanding how these all interact, and what each acronym means and its purpose (DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, WAN, LAN, DNS, etc.) Posts range from 2008-2016, none say Yes/No to the question of a DSL M/R -to- Cable M/R (Assumed LAN -to- LAN, disable router on DSL and use Cable M/R for Router), and none are specific to my equipment, not that I expected that.
I've seen numerous posts on Cascading/Bridging from different devises, adjusting and setting specific IP addresses & DNS Servers, getting the correct PPPoE login info from ISP, and still have had zero luck. Contacting the Manufacturers and ISP have taken me backwards.
QUESTION 1:
Can I use my NETGEAR C6300 Cable Modem/Router, strictly as a router that is connected to my ZyXEL PK5001Z DSL Modem/Router?
QUESTION 2:
Can I use my NETGEAR N300, connected via the NETGEAR PowerLINE, to enhance my network?
Thank you to whoever can give me a Yes/No answer, and thank you for any help provided
