Does anyone know which is better or the pros and cons of either? I'm on the verge of buying a graphic card and just need to know which to buy? Also which will be good for an OC'd CPU i5-6600k (4.6 Ghz)?
The 390X is a repackaged 290X, it is faster then the 970 and usually more expensive ($400+) but it has a full 4GB, the 970 has a newer core, runs cooler, and less power hungry and is usually much less ($300+). It has 3.5GB + .5GB of RAM.

A Radeon 390 generally outperforms the nVidia 970. The 390x is better than a 390, but not enough to justify the added cost. If you compare a 390 vs. 970, non-reference designs, the 390 will score more FPS in games @ 1080p than the 970. I think it'll more likely come down to what games you specifically want to play, as to which card will work better for you.
