Newegg RMA Bent Pins

Hi all,

I recently had to send back a bad Athlon X4 860K to Newegg. They denied the RMA due to "The CPU was received with apparent end-user caused physical damage to the CPU contact pins". However, I checked the pins after it wouldn't boot to verify that wasn't the cause (bad experience with a shady DLP chip vendor) and I'm 100% certain that the pins were fine when I shipped it back. Any advice on how to proceed with their customer service to work this out? The fear is the pins were damaged by the shipping (I sent back in the same packaging) or the RMA tech and now I'm out the cost of the chip.

Thanks!

The unfortunate side to all of this is... you only get one chance with RMA's. They already have a record... so you can't bend them back in place and resubmit the RMA. As I said before...when you receive the package back... try bending the pins back in place and seeing if it works.. You pretty much don't have any other option but to make due if it works or buy another.

Yeah.. Newegg is very, very strict with their return policy. Your best bet would be to try to straighten them out and seeing if that was the cause of it not working originally. Perhaps there were a few bent ones you missed... or perhaps you accidentally bent some while installing. It's hard to tell or pinpoint. There is also the possibility you bent the pins while during the repackaging phase.

Yeah, in hindsight I wish I had grabbed pictures prior to sending it back. Unfortunately I think I had a little too much faith in Newegg's customer service while sending it out the door :(

as most find that falls under end user abuse and gets rejected , but never hurts to try ? most bent pin issues are easily resolved by just straighten them back out plenty of threads on how to ??

bad thing is its not a local store where you can go in and have a eye to eye meeting they know your over there and they are over here [as in too bad so sad for you ]

just to add were these sold by newegg or one of there 3ed party sellers ? you can read any reviews with bent pins and see most all get turned down for any rma - just the way its all ways been
