Windows Update not working over ICS (internet connection sharing ), error 8024402C.

I built a new PC but as it doesn't have a Wi-Fi adapter yet, connecting it to my laptop (host) via LAN works fine.
In laptop I enabled sharing of the data-card modem with 'Local Area Connection', which changed the LAN adapter IP4 settings (IP: 192.168.137.1 , subnet mask : 255.255.255.0).
So, now I have internet on my new PC, but Windows Update takes for ever. Last time it showed error 8024402C.
On a side note, I did upgrade Internet Explorer 8 to 11. Also, Windows Updates work on my laptop.

Looks like you can get that error if you're using a firewall. Is one installed besides Windows firewall?

If there is disable it. If it's Mcafee I would uninstall it

It's a brand new Windows 7 install. Nothing else is there. I didn't bother to check the default Windows firewall though.

It could be because youre using ICS on the other PC too

I just created ICS on laptop, plugged LAN wired from laptop to desktop and both have internet.
There is only the LAN adapter in desktop network, and I didn't change any settings.
