Hey guys, should I get the Gtx 970 or wait for the next gpus that are supposed to come up in April-July. I play all games at 1080p and I want it future proof. My budget is $600AUD

I think your in the same boat as most of us here, in a holding pattern - even though there are opportunities to upgrade. I got a new pretty Acer 34" Curved Monitor and I'm running 280X's in Crossfire - of course my new favorite game - Fallout 4 - doesn't do Crossfire - and it's struggling along at 34 - 40 FPS.

Those new FuryX's and 980Ti's look really good at this point, but as much as it hurts me every single day I play thinking about new card, we know that new better cards a a few months away that are better than those cards, and it looks like the gains will be substantial considering they need to power 4K Monitors,..,

So what do you think I should do?

If you want it future proof lets wait 2 months and see what / when it's coming. Nvidia isn't saying much about Pascal's availability - which usually means it's not ready just yet for production - If it was coming out soon, we would know about it,.., It wont be here for April and maybe by July we will have a release date..,If that FuryX2 was released at Christmas time, I woulda jumped on that.

No body knows at this point when any of the new generation of cards are coming out - Most of us are waiting just a few more months and lets see if the gains are worth the wait,,I think the new generation of Cards from AMD and Nvidia are going to look pretty impressive and I it would just kill me If I just spend $600 dollars on a 980ti today and in 6 months have to face the same question with the new cards,..

Again -- I am regrettably playing Fallout 4 at around 34fps and it shutters --- I'll wait even though I can have a new 980ti from Amazon here by Sunday.,.,
