Hi guys,
I want to overclock my FX 8350 but i read that my mobo can limit the overclock.

I have:
CPU: FX 8350
MoBo: Gigabyte 970A ud3p rev 1.0
Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo (i'll get the h100i v2 in one month)
PSU: XFX pro series 1050w
Ram: 8GB 1600mhz

Is enough my mobo or i should upgrade to a 990fx chipset? which mobo recommends me? (if i need upgrade to overclock). Thanks for any help.

If you've never overclocked before, and it sounds like you haven't, you need to read a guide.

This motherboard will be able to get you a very decent overclock, although it isnt the best, it will definitly be fine for your needs since im assuming you arent going for any world records

TL;DR: your mobo is fine, and you can easily oc on it.

I read the 2 links and more, always says that use LLC high or very high and only have medium or extreme. With extreme overheat in 2min and with medium get 68ºC in 15min (using Prime95 but where i live is very hot now in summer my room temp are 30C-40C). Thanks for the help.

I'm not at the rig right now but if I recall (after experimenting with multiple settings and volt levels) I left the LLC on 'Auto' and worked the VCore with the NB VID at 1.2v or so.

The bad news: early GB AM3+ motherboards (specifically the 990FX -UD3) were gosh awful with LLC. The good news: There are some really fancy new 970 motherboards for around $100 that will likely have no issues.

I'm still ticked at GB for reverting to Rev1 boards after several years of having Rev2 on the market ---- so ticked that I'm likely going to purchase an Asus 970 Aura Gaming this afternoon.

Hear that, Gigabyte ??

Sorry if i no understand well (i no speak english well) but GB revert the rev 2 to rev 1 in the markets? have you any issue with your mobo?

I have no issues with the -UD3P Rev2 motherboard. I believe it is an excellent product.

In the USA the -UD3P Rev2 motherboards started disappearing 4 or 5 months ago, and the Rev1 -UD3Ps 'magically' re-appeared.

I suspect the Rev1 boards are fine ---- just not as capable as the Rev2 boards, and as you have found, much less OC-friendly.

aaahh ok thanks, i was thinking change the mobo for a good OC, but the mainly problem in my case is the heat because i live in a hot area and with de 212 evo and stock clocks/voltages sometimes i get 65ºC when i play but when use prime95 the max is 55ºC
