Hi all!

I'm sure this question has come up before but I can't find anything. I'm going away soon and I have to leave my massive full tower desktop behind :( I want to be able to play my games though, but my laptop simply can't run them. Will I be able to use Steam's streaming service to remotely play my games from another state? Not sure if distance matters but I'll be heading to Pennsylvania and my desktop is here in Virginia. I do have extremely high speed internet here in Virginia as well.

Would I have to use a VPN service or something? or will it just work?

Thanks!

So it doesnt matter that I wouldn't be on the same network or anything? I thought it could only be used for in-home streaming.

I don't think so? Atleast it worked for me when I tried it a while ago

Thanks! That's what I was kind of expecting. According to SpeedTest.net I have 95.20mbps upload and 20ms ping from here to PA. I know my internet speeds are good here. So I have to try finding a good VPN service, then I should be able to log in to my steam account on each pc and stream? I plan on playing things like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 if possible.

I just purchased IPVanish VPN. I'd like to do a test run and use it to stream a game from my desktop to laptop before I leave. How do I use the program to connect my computers? Do I only have to connect to the same server or something?
