.gifs I create won't play on smoothly on my phone

I create animations in after effects and then export them as .avi files with an Intel video codex. Then I open them in Camstudio or Photoshop and I go through the process and outcomes a nice smooth .gif. But, when I open it on my phone it plays very badly. I have a LG G3 and a Nexus 7, and both rub bad. It's laggy and freezy. I usually keep my gifs at 30 fps, but I've tried 20/15 and its still laggy as well as choppy with the lower framrate. What am I doing wrong?

MAybe the SW you are using, or also you could try downloading some that play good on your phone and then open them on your PC and see what they used for resolution, color palette size, FPS, etc. Been a while since I worked with them, but I remember it did take a lot of optimization before to get them to work good, so work backwards. Be surprised how little resolution and palette you can get away with if you do it right.
How long/big are they? Playing GIF's in 30fps still requires some decent CPU power, which phones aren't optimized for. A phone can play a 1080p movie because it has a hardware decoder for the main video formats, built into the GPU.

Why are you trying to do GIF's for video sized files though? Make a video if you want a video. Knowing what you are trying to do might help.

They are usually only 3 - 10 seconds. I've made some for banners on Google+, which won't look that great unless it's HD, the rest I just like to share. I've seen other gifs at decent resolutions that play seemlesly ( excuse bad spelling ) on my phone. My gifs might even consist of 1 or 2 things moving too. I'm mainly just creating to share, or for someone's banner. Maybe their name will pop out or something along those lines.
