Hello, I was looking to see if the FX-6300 was better for the $160 or should I get the i5-4690k for $340. Keep in mind that this is in CAD and I will be using this for gaming, recording, and light editing. Or should I just get the i7-4790k for the $500?

I was also wondering what GPU I should get. The GTX 960 for $280 or the R9 380 for $330.

Thank you in advance.

I was just re-checking prices, and this is what I would do:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($249.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 380 4GB NITRO Dual-X OC Video Card ($188.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $438.87
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Well, I would at least recommend an i5-6600k. The i5-4690k is also a nice choice. In my opinion, if you really feel that you need the extra graphics power a 970 is worth the upgrade from the 380, but if you want to spend as little as possible then the price difference isn't quite worth it, in my opinion. Now, if that R9 could be found for around 300$ or so then yeah, maybe go for it but at 50$ more than a 960 it isn't worth it.
