Playing WoW for the first time in a long time, settings on high, when half way through a PvP battleground I get a power surge. System reboots and I am given a screen telling me about the power surge, instantly faced with horizontal artefacts everywhere! Device Manager shows the GPU as there but error code 43, not working properly.
I have tried a few work arounds, mostly software, such as reinstalling drivers or completely uninstalling all nvidia software, with no luck. Tried changing slot of GPU, didn't work, cleaned it, didn't work, can't replace cables as I have no spare ones.
System works fine using onboard graphics, and EVEN WORKS WITH A old RADEON 1GB GPU!!!!!!!

Possibly the rail that the pcie power is connected to is blown, as i think the psu would take the hit of a surge rather than the gpu itself. try using an old psu you have around, lend a friends, or just buy one on amazon and return it if it doesnt solve the problem. It seems odd that it would take out a gpu leaving it with artifacts meaning that it damaged the vram. If a new psu doesnt work, i guess the gpu is dead :(. get a surge protector on there!

I don't have a PSU to hand, but I have tried the other slots on my modular power supply, using different cables. Do you think that means I can rule out the PSU as the cause?
I am right now taking apart the GPU and visually inspecting it. I know this voids warranty or whatever, but I am way out of any chance of that anyway!! As of right now I can't see any faults with the GPU! and my system runs fine using the current PSU.
