When installing Hard Drive I get stuck on Dell Splash Screen (Startup Screen)

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm currently having some issues with my Main Hard-Drive. One day... I turned off my computer for a restart and when it was starting back up it was taking awful long to load from the Dell screen during startup. I didn't think much of it so I went and got some food and did some stuff around my house... And after about an hour or two I came back and it was still on the same screen. I unplugged that hard-drive and plugged in my backup hard-drive and it worked fine. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem or if the hard-drive is just broken.

PC Specs;

- Intel Core i3
- 8 GB RAM
- 1 640 Hard-Drive (Backup Hard-Drive)
- 1 TB Hard-Drive (Primary/Broken Hard-Drive)

How am I supposed to run tests if my Hard-Drive wont show up in the list? I don't know if I was doing something wrong or not but when I download the tools to run tests I cannot see my hard-drive listed because when I plug it in my computer wont get past the starting screen.
