Do I need to add fans to my build? Is the case too big?

There isn't such a thing as a case too big for me, I like the extra room to build in to and for airflow. If you don't have the physical room for it to fit where it will be placed, that's another thing. You have an excellent PSU with long cables, so you should have no problem there. I would see what your temps are after you get it put together before buying anymore fans, you might not need them.

This is my first build of this caliber and I don't want to <language> things up. If I were to overclock it though, which cooler and fans would you recommend me?

Mod edit: Please watch the language

My room is big and there should be good airflow where I'm putting the case, but sometimes it gets hot since I live in a really hot area, would that be a problem? Is having fans a must in that case?

Well, an easy economical start would be an enclosed water cooler. I've used the H50 and H55 Corsair and they have done a decent job as far as easy overclocks go. That mobo should have an overclock genie that would be at least a start at an easy quick overclock. You could grab that for $50 and download a temp reader like real temp to see your temperatures with whatever cooler you get.

You can also get a hyper evo air cooler for $30, and I think that would be enough cooling for you.

As far as fans, the stock fans should be enough. The Corsair watercooler has an extra fan and it's pretty quiet.

Case comes with a front 200mm intake + a 140mm rear exhaust - that should honestly be enough IMO.
You could drop another 140mm top/rear exhaust in if you really want.

I see absolutely no point in cheap aio water coolers

Something like the themis evo will match or beat an h80 at half the price , easier to fit, no worries about maintenance.

The ereboss at $43 is also abdutely unmatched in that price bracket ,- absolute beast of a cooler.

Bro we have same case and same psu!. The PC will look awesome but if you want to OC then I would just consider 1-2 more intake fans and a reliable watercooler or else things will will get pretty hot . Also I would get the i7-4790 since if you wont be rendering then that extra OC isnt necessery for me and I would get a cheaper motherboard but still z97 and a decent HDD for gaming like the WD Caviar Black. And since you have that big PSU I would consider the r9 390 as a better option since it has better specs (which dont really matter) and 8GB of vram not 4gb *cough* 3,5 . But if you really want the 970 you will have to turn down some aa in some games or distance/detail and a lot of times the textures and ofcourse forget modding games with better textures or add-ons

Not nvidia hater but Lets see things from both sides...
