Monitor doesn't work on Z170x Gaming 3

Hi all,

I have built a new gaming PC using Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit

Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
Be quiet. Dark Rock Pro 3 Silent CPU Cooler for Extreme Overclocking
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card
Corsair 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
NZXT Source 530 ATX Full Tower Case

I have 2 monitors connected to my Video card and one to my motherboard but the one connected to my motherboard doesn't work.

I have installed all the drivers.

I am using DVI ports for all three monitors.

Any ideas how to fix it?

So you have two monitors connected to the gpu and the other to the motherboard? And I guess that the two on the gpu work but not the one connected to the motherboard, right? This happens because the system detects a gpu installed, so it disables the graphics output from the cpu(the motherboard connector).

all 3 monitors worked fine on my old computer using GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 and gtx 780

Somewhere at the chipset settings. You need to initialize both graphics adapters.

I see that in chipset category the second option is about "internal graphics" as it says. Normally this must be "disabled" since there is a discrete graphics device on the system. Turn it to "enabled", save and exit. Reboot with all monitors connected and see if they work.

hello, I have tried setting it to all available options- Disabled, enabled and auto but that makes no difference

The monitor that is connected to the internal graphics adapter will only get a signal when Windows passes the logo during boot.

Hell if I know, I have made several builds using 4 monitors 3 on GPU and 1 on integrated and all of them share the same aspect. The monitor connected to the integrated GPU only gets a signal after Windows boots.
It may have to do with the Intel GPU version, or power saving options. I never checked why it is so because the monitors worked when needed.

I knew that this would happen. It may be possible to some older architecture systems but not with new cpus/gpus. Once a discrete gpu is detected the onboard is disabled. Besides there is no reason doing that. Why not connecting them all to your GPU? The monitor you want to connect to the motherboard has only vga?

Of course if you have a digital capable display it's way better if you just buy a digital connector (display port to hdmi, hdmi to hdmi, or dvi)

Yes you can use an analog display (vga) with an adaptor only from dvi-i. DVI-I carries analog and digital signal, while the other outputs only digital.

but there's only 1 analog output on any GPU mid to high end since 2011.

If rus4u has two analog displays i am afraid it will not work. If there is only one analog display it can work but if all monitors are digital then there is no need to discuss that. So rus4u, what type of monitors are you using?

He did say he is using DVI on all of them. Meaning they are digital capable but there are simply not enough DVI connectors on a GPU.
I suggest a DVI - HDMI connector cable or adapter. They are easy to find.

From gigabytes site about this graphics card you can see he can use either a DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI, DP or DVI-I, HDMI and the three DP. So in his case he plugs two monitors in DVI-D and DVI-I and he gets an adaptor from HDMI-to-DVI or DP-to-DVI.
