Graphics Card : http://www.evga.com/articles/00895/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-960/
My monitor (ASUS VE246H - http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VE246H-24-LCD-Monitor/dp/B003GD6W3C/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8) needs to run on HDMI. I used to have it plugged in to DVI cable but now i want to switch to HDMI. Yet when I plug in the HDMI cable to my graphics card (I've tried my mother board too) and monitor then switch the monitor to run on HDMI it just gives me a black screen. (I know the HDMI cable is working and not broken btw)

Solution
I was thinking of seeing if it was a monitor problem, ig you try the desktop with the TV and it works, then may be a monitor problem - could try using the laptop to the monitor to see if monitor, if it's fine there, then may be down to GPU port problem

I have tried 2 different cables and yes i do switch the input to HDMI but that doesn't work. The computer recognizes the cable and the monitor stays on (it would be off if it didn't) but it gives me a black screen.

Ya, a TV. The HDMI cable seems to work fine. For the cable, all you have to do is plug it in and change the input on the monitor right?

The TV is 55" and is in the living room and i have a Desktop so i really don't want to move the desktop to the TV and play on the TV. I used a laptop to see if the screen was projected and it was.
