Dont know much about building my pc's and this is my first build I'm going with an i3-4170 and am looking for a motherboard that wont need a bios update when I boot up the computer. Can someone tell me if h97 and z97 dont require updates? Will they always work with a intel cpu? And h81 motherboards will sometimes need a bios update. Is this true? Because if so I will definatley go with a z97 or h97

Solution
An H97 meets all of your requirements and you don't need to worry about BIOS updates for the i3-4170 compatibility. I bought an ASRock H97M Pro4 a couple months ago and it came with the latest BIOS version.

Alright so any h97 motherboard that I go with will support the i3-4170 out of the box correct? Have any recommendatiosn below 80$

An i5-4460 is an older CPU that's supported on most H81 motherboards (though I would buy such a motherboard for a gaming system).
