Hey guys just curious I'm looking at building my first budget gaming pc. I have a list but I don't want to waste money. I have been mainly looking at the AMD FX-6300 3.5ghz but now i'm wondering if it would be better to go with a Intel i5-4460 3.2ghz. Thanks for any help/opinions, they are greatly appreciated.

Also curious if I should get a XFX Radeon R9 280 3g or Gigabyte Radeon R9 380 4GB SOC. But I will post under the graphics card section for that.

Thanks again.

yes but only by a little bit. i think the benchmarks show about a 10% improvement for skylake over haswell. if the price is about the same then go for it, but for a lot more money, the performance increase is not worth it.

I've had a number of AMD builds over the years and they've had quite a few really good CPUs, but at this particular moment, it's really hard to recommend an AMD build outside of a few very specific scenarios, such as a budget rendering build. For a budget gaming build, I take the i5.
