What this USB adapter does is allow you to connect to a WiFi network on a computer that doesn't have a wireless adapter built in. It will not speed up your internet, as WiFi is slower than an wired ethernet connection, but it will allow you to connect to the internet anywhere you are in range of your WiFi.
