i5 4460
MSI H81M-P33
1x8GB HyperX 1600Mhz
GTX960 4GB
1TB WD10EZEX
LC600H-12
Vortex V3

In my country some of these are pretty expensive, for example i5 4460 is around 230e, I'm ordering this via some people who work outside and I can get same cpu for 160e, same thing with GTX960, it's 200e. So those 2 are 360e roughly and my budget is around 500-550e.

Will this be enough for survival (usually not optimized games so just to pass recommended requirements) and AAA titles on medium-high details in 1440x900 ? It's for my wife, my PC is listed below and I'm waiting for upcoming Pascal cards although I'm trying to resist and not get 980ti before.

As for AMD, the R9 380 is at times better then the NVidia 960 but it requires more power, produces more heat and really the NVidia 960 is plenty for gaming at 60Hz and 1080p.

It's Serbia (serbian dinar), although euro is mostly used for overall price judgment due to easier math :) I thought about 1x8gb because I would upgrade to one more stick eventually. If I go for Pascal at the end of the year she will get my 970, so I'm just looking for solid start where PC will be used probably more then ever, aswel as for simulations and wheel while one of us is gaming on primary PC with AAA titles.

If there is anything much better in that price range I'm all ears. I would preffer Nvidia but if AMD can reach standards, I wouldn't mind.

I still think you have a good build. By having 2x4GB you get a small increase in performance over 1x8GB. Plus keep in mind its not the greatest idea to buy RAM now, and then add more from a new kit later even if the new kit of memory is the same model as what you originally brought. There are to many inconsistencies even when the parts are manufactured together that the 2xN and 4xN kits all have to be tested and validated at the factory to ensure compatibility with each other.

As for 16GB of RAM, I now recommend it as some games are asking for more then 8GB of RAM just make sure you buy all of your RAM at one time to avoid memory issues.

I have two mixed kits of RAM. 2x4GB DDR3 1600 CAS 8 and 2x2GB DDR3 1333 CAS ? and they mixed ok but I get random crashes in bother linux and windows.
