I have a 6700 skylake cpu with stock cooler. My idle temp is varying a lot. Sometimes its 40c then its 55c. I'm very worried. I only have one fan on my case. (Except the ones on the CPU and GPU.) I can't fit a double 120mm water cooling fan. So my main question is... Should i invest in a liquid cooler, and can i even fit a single 120mm watercooling fan? (The problem with the one i bought before was that it pushed against my ram)

SPECS:

Graphics card: MSI GTX 970 geforce

CPU: 6700 Intel Skylake.

Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 miditower.

Power supply: Corsair PSU RM650x

Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M5

55°c at idle is far too high. You need a minimum of one case fan pulling air in, and another extracting it. You should get yourself some thermal paste, get a decent aftermarket air cooler, and replace the stock cooler. You should also get more case fans so that the CPU actually has cool air to breathe.

seems like to me you have space issues and you have a mid tower case sounds like its cramped in there and your not getting very good air flow through the case.
you can get a small closed loop water cooler for 60 bucks corsair h50 ( which will FIT in your mid tower case i have the same one fitted in my mid tower case)

or you can try putting new thermal paste on the cpu
