Looking for case with large number (5-6) 5.25 drive bays for optical drives

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone knows of a good large case that could ideally hold 6 optical drives and 3-4 hard drives. I know that some motherboards have 10 SATA ports but most cases seemed to be geared towards a large number of hdd sdd drives rather than a large number of optical drive slots. If no such cases exist what is the alternative if one wants to put a large number of optical drives on one machine (for ripping dvds/blu-rays to a hdd)?

Your best bet is to go to a used store or look through the classifieds in your area. There are usually a ton of 'old' cases that have a lot of 5.25 bays for dirt cheap.

What are you making? you specifically asked for optical drives so would a disk duplicator do what you want?

I am trying to build a disk ripping computer that can double as a desktop. I am trying to rip to a nas.

Can the HAF x lower to external drive slots mount external drives. It seems they are 5.25 inch slots but adapted for mounting hdds? Also are there some newer model cases that have this unfortunately I live in a country with small inventories so even models a year old may not be available(I live in Hong Kong).

I checked both those cases and neither of them seem to work for various reasons I forgot to specify. I suspect I need something that fits an atx motherboard rather than a micro-atx board and then rosewill only seems to take those. The Haf x has 6 slots exposed but I am uncertain if the lower 2 slots can hold optical drives since they seem to be front tray loaded for 3.5 inch hdds

The Thor v2 will take any motherboard size. It says it supports Micro ATX / ATX / E-ATX / XL-ATX not just Micro.

Yeah I just checked and saw that unfortunately I don't think that case is locally available- and the HAF X also is out of stock in the places I checked.
