Hi all,

I need to recover the data from an Apple SSD, however as per-usual Apple are being difficult.

The SSD has a PCIe style connection so it cant just be thrown into a caddy like any normal drive.
I own an adapter Here which is stated to work for my model of Mac.

However you can see from the following photos that the adapter is no where near the correct fit for the SSD.

I've searched all over Google, Ebay. and Amazon for the correct adapter but none seem to have the correct fit.

Just wanted to ask if any of you have had a similar problem with this model of Mac and if you'd be able to shed some light onto resolving the issue.

Thanks in advance!
Jack.

It's a proprietary Apple connector. All the Macbooks use it.

These guys make SSDs which fit the connector. I'd try asking them if they make an adapter which lets you mount the SSD in a desktop, or know where to get one.

Failing that, have you tried leaving the drive in the MBA and booting off an external drive/USB stick? That's normally how you're supposed to do recovery.
