hello, i am trying to backup my seagate sshd so i can reformat the drive and reload windows 7. the first problem i am having is trying to back up the drive. i tried copy and paste to copy from drive 'c' to 'e' but it stopped at about 40gb on drive 'e'. it shows 277gb used on drive 'c'. why won't it copy the rest of the data from 'c' to 'e'? if i can get past that i want to reformat the sshd and reload windows 7. after that i want to bring back the files from the seagate backup. how can i back up something like battlefield or office 2003 or visual studio and then bring them back without losing anything? thanks.

You can't
Those will need to be reinstalled with the new OS that you are going to install.
What you backup are docs, etc. Not applications.
