Hey guys, I got mine GTX 970 today and I'm pretty stoked with it's performance so far.

I was told more than once and it was labeled on the box that the fans will not kick in until the temperature rises around 60+ C. Which I guess I'm okay with but also worried because while IDLE my card sits at 50C most of the time with slight increase and decrease between 45-55C.

I just wanted to make sure that it's normal and I shouldn't be worried about my card sitting at 50C all the time.

Or is that actually bad? Should I make sure my fans work while im not playing any games too? (My previous card would always sit around 35C while idle.)
Thanks for reading.

the temp is perfectly normal for gpus with that feature for the fans. and 50c is safe. I have msi gtx 970 version and the fans would not start unless it is 55c and idle is 40c. asus also has this feature.

Is there a way where I can set it up as well? So my temp stays around 40c at idle and fan kicks in on 55c+
sorry if this is obvious. I'm pretty new to all of this.

msi afterburner custom fan curve

or evga precision x[/quotemsg]

I have evga precision x 16 but I am not sure what I am missing since I don't the see the option to lower temp
I mean i can increase fan speed but it kicks AUTO off so I'm guessing hat defeats the purpose

temps is dependent on your ambient temps and case airflow. but if I were you would worry about this since 50c idle on the gpu is normal since the built in feature is to not run the fan at that temperature. it would not degrade in anyway the gpu. if you play with the custom curve on the msi afterburner or precision it will overide the default settings on your gpu. All I am saying is dont worry too much the gpu is perfectly safe condition.
