Why did the ASUS STRIX GTX 980Ti go from $660 to almost $1,000 in price in one day?

I was wondering because it went up to about $1,000 and around $850 on some sites at times but it was $660 for a loooong time. For some reason it says "Marketing callout" on it but i have no idea what that means i tried Googleing it but no good results. I mean i can buy a Titan X for the price of some Asus 980Ti's which is crazy stupid man! Is ASUS having problems or something?

Well when do you think the price will go back down? I was going to buy one again on March the 1st. How come the other 980Ti are still about $600 but the ASUS is like $1,000

The Titan X is dominated by the 980Ti man. THe Titan X is stuck with a shit for PCB and all of the Titan X are the same and super hot. The 980Ti has sooooo many versions of better made Fans and PCB designs and overclock so high. THe titan X has more VRAm yes but i mean considering 2 way Titan X can not handle 4k, i mean it can but id can not handle playing games with every setting up as high as they go on games and at 60FPS so whats the point lol. I must have every setting as high as it goes or i move down a resolution. TO me Graphical settings and FPS matter to me more than Resolution but thats just me. Also thanks so much for the input, i never knew of the earthquake man thats crazy.
